Founded
Established in Chingola by employees of Nchanga Copper Mines, laying the foundation for one of Zambia's most prestigious golf clubs.
1942
Nine-Hole Course Opens
The club's newly built nine-hole course officially opened, marking the beginning of organised golf at Nchanga.
1946
Championship Course Completed
Expanded into an 18-hole championship course, setting the stage for national and regional tournaments.
1948
Historic All-Rhodesian Championship
Became the first course in Northern Rhodesia to host the prestigious All-Rhodesian Championship.
1955
Fairway Irrigation Completed
Introduced full fairway irrigation, enhancing course quality and playing conditions.
1979
International Recognition
Ranked the 14th Best Golf Course Outside the USA by Golf Digest, placing Nchanga among the world's elite courses.
2006
Zambia Open
Hosted the Zambia Open on the Sunshine Tour, attracting top professional golfers from across the region.
2010
Course Redevelopment
The course underwent a major renovation led by architects Mark Wiltshire and Mark Muller, modernising its layout while preserving its heritage.
2011
Zambia Open Returns
The renovated championship course welcomed the Zambia Open once again, reaffirming Nchanga's place on the international golfing calendar.
2016
Zambia Open
Successfully hosted another edition of the Zambia Open, continuing its proud tradition of championship golf.
2026
KCM Golf Challenge
Entered a new era by hosting the inaugural KCM Golf Challenge, a Sunshine Tour event that reaffirmed Nchanga Golf Club as one of Africa's premier championship golfing destinations.

Renovation Year
While not exceptionally long, the course demands precision with tree-lined fairways and water hazards that come into play on several holes, challenging golfers to strategize each shot carefully. The course was substantially upgraded in 2010 under the guidance of South African golf course architects Mark Wiltshire and Mark Muller, who implemented a new irrigation system, reconfigured bunker placements, and enhanced the green surrounds to modernize the playing experience.
Among the notable holes, the par-4 6th stands out, requiring a well-placed tee shot to navigate the narrow fairway flanked by mature trees, followed by an accurate approach to a guarded green. The par-5 7th hole offers a risk-reward scenario, tempting long hitters to reach the green in two shots, but with water hazards and bunkers strategically positioned to penalize errant attempts. The back nine features the par-3 14th hole, where the tee shot must carry over a section of the Nchanga Stream to a well-protected green, testing both distance control and nerve.
The course is open year-round and offers multiple tee boxes to accommodate golfers of all skill levels, from the championship White tees at 7,545 yards to the more forgiving Red tees at 6,214 yards.

Ranked 14th Best Course Worldwide
Voted the 14th best golf course in the world outside of the USA by Golf Digest, recognizing Nchanga's exceptional design and playing conditions on the global stage.
2006
Sunshine Tour Event
Hosted the prestigious Zambia Open on the Sunshine Tour, bringing international professional golf to Chingola. The tournament returned in 2011 following the course's major renovation and again in 2016.

Sunshine Tour · KCM Partnership
The inaugural KCM Golf Challenge marked a new era for championship golf at Nchanga, reaffirming the club as one of Africa's premier tournament destinations in partnership with Konkola Copper Mines.
