KCM Supports the Revival of Junior Golf at Nchanga Golf Club

Nchanga Golf Club has taken an important step in developing the next generation of Zambian golfers with the revival of its Junior Golf Development Programme, supported by Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) Plc.
The revival marks a significant milestone for the club's junior section, which had been dormant for more than a decade. The programme has now been re-established with a dedicated committee, a full-time coach and experienced Nchanga Golf Club members who are helping introduce young players to the fundamentals of the game.
The programme's maiden junior tournament brought together young golfers, parents, guardians, coaches and club officials for a day of competition, learning and enjoyment on the course.
The club was also honoured by the presence of KCM Acting Chief Executive Officer, Mr Malcolm Mewett, who encouraged the young golfers to remain disciplined, committed to their training and confident in their abilities.

Investing in Access to Golf
A significant boost to the programme has come through support from the KCM Marathon. A portion of proceeds from the event has been directed towards the development of Nchanga Golf Club's junior section, including the acquisition of **more than 25 new golf clubs.
The equipment will help remove one of the barriers that can prevent young people from accessing golf and will allow more children to learn and develop their skills in a structured environment.
For Nchanga Golf Club, the objective extends beyond simply teaching children how to swing a club. Golf provides an environment in which young people can develop discipline, patience, confidence, concentration, sportsmanship and respect qualities that can serve them well both on and off the course.
Building a Pathway for Young Talent
The revived programme is designed to create a sustainable pathway for young golfers, beginning with fundamental skills at club level and gradually exposing them to competitive opportunities at regional and national level.
Regular junior tournaments will form an important part of this development, giving children an opportunity to experience competition, test their skills and learn how to handle both success and disappointment.
